I understand the view on doggie dietitions and shrinks. I walk my dogs and let them play for long periods of the day, and I control how much food they have. If my dog needs a psychiatrist, I need to see who's abusing them and take care of the matter. Some dogs DO have OCD and do get depressed, they may need medications for anxiety and that's fine. Pet insurance for me would be more obtainable than insurance for myself. For me it's 200.00 a month, for four pets, it's 75 for the best they could get. I don't have it for mine because this pet "insurance" is nothing more than a reimburstment program, and if I had the money for it in the first place, I wouldn't need that "insurance."
Both of my dogs are rescues, my 2 cats and ferret as well. I always go by "if you can't afford it or the time for it, don't get it." Yet at that time things were fine with me financially. Then our government went down hill and a ten dollar bag of dogfood jumped up to twenty practically overnight. Is that my or my pets fault? No. If I had kids, I'd get government help and tax breaks for that. I even knew of some "wonderful" people who had kids JUST to get on welfare. Now here I am just trying to make ends meet with bills and other expenses(pets included). I love my pets and will not see them as any object like an old table to just dump off when I don't need it or it becomes a burden. They live, they breathe, they bleed, they feel. They're happy when I come home, sad when I leave. That doesn't sound like some mindless peice of junk now, does it?
I own my own small business, and found out that I can get deductions for some alcohol I served at a small party six months ago. I think I'd rather have a break for my pet's expenses.
Having deductions for pets would not only help me, but help others as well. It might even help decrease the numbers in shelters and rescues, as well as keeping pets in homes with the people who love them.
I'm all for this, it's almost like my own litle "bailout." Heaven knows we won't see the money from that 700 billion for a long time.
