Fourth of July: Eddie Gabor's House

Above is my city, Pittsburgh, PA, on Fourth of July. When I'm in town on the Fourth I love to go to Mt. Washington to watch the spectacular show.

But for many years my family went to Eddie Gabor's house instead. Eddie was my grandmother's companion for 20 years or more. From his back yard, we watched another fine fireworks display in Mt. Lebanon, PA, the community where I now live.

I didn't realize it when I was younger, but there was no finer place -- for a couple of powerful reasons -- for us to celebrate the Fourth.

Read about it here.
