Cash for Clunkers
The governmment will soon give us dough -- the Senate just gave the nod to the Cash for Clunkers bill -- if we promise to take our clunky gas guzzlers off the road.
That is causing me a bit of grief.

Your column hit home with me. I have a 1993 Mercury Villager that I love. It only gets 14 miles to the gallon but it rides like a car and it sits out in Arizona like a faithful dog waiting for me to come back and runs like new. But/ . . .it's only worth $1500 if that. And like you said that $4500 looks mighty good, but then I have a car payment for a Honda that gets 30 miles to the gallon . . . Do they give you that rebate on a used car? EEk.
