On Detroit and Muscle Cars

It was the first car I ever drove: Donny Krieger's '69 SS Chevelle.
We ought to make the 18 members of Obama's presidential panel -- a government panel tasked with "supervising" GM and Chrysler -- drive this car before they make things in Detroit even worse.

It's nice to see this RC car working again. Now the question is are you going to let Zachary have his car back?

This recession seems to be wiping out brands that have been peoples dream cars for decades its a real shame there isn't more support for the auto industry.

Ha ha! Good point ... but the Chevelle came from a very different era than the one we currently live in. There will always be nostalgia for the past. Unfortunately though, the conditions in the past that brought about the cars we had then will never be recreated. You’re right, we don't need bland knock-offs ... but we do need realistic MPG figures.

I agree that the muscle car can't completely die, Tom - that Chevelle looks awesome! I do think that 'reflecting confidence and optimism' is a bit short-sighted in the face of hard facts, though … a million muscle cars and the gas they burn have definitely contributed to the situation today.
