Regulation without Representation

You ought to be thankful you're not Clyde Wayne Crews.

Mr. Crews takes on the onerous task of analyzing America's federal regulatory burdens and showing how costly they really are. He explains in detail in 'Ten Thousand Commandments: An Annual Snapshot of the Federal Regulatory State.'"

In 2007, to be exact, federal regulations cost America $1.16 trillion -- nearly half the federal budget that year!

What's worse: nobody is monitoring the regulators. Congress passes laws, but the real action is in interpreting the laws to create the rules and regulations that the rest of us must comply with.

It's a fascinating subject -- and a mighty worrisome one once you learn how our regulatory bodies have nobody regulating them (what Crews refers to as "regulation without representation").

In any event, get the skinny here.
