Ah, here we are in the thick of the summer, but things don't sound right in most neighborhoods.

The traditional sounds of summer -- kids outside playing baseball, It Tag or a variety of other games -- have been replaced with the sound of humming air-conditioning units that keep houses closed and kids isolated inside.

I suggest we bring the old sounds back -- especially the calls, chants and bells parents used to get their kids home in time for dinner.
