Material Kids and Spider Bikes

The Schwinn Orange Krate spider bike was the most coveted spider bike in the history of kid-dom. It had dual hand brakes, five gears, a real-working shock absorber in the front.
Any there's no way my family could ever afford one.
Instead I got a green Huffy spider bike -- it only had one gear with a pedal brake, but I loved that bike. Though I should have never lent it to my sister kris on that dreaded summer day!
In any event, just musing over old childhood memories... memories that hold more power over me, and bring me more delight, with every passing day.
You think kids these days, when they are older, will be as nostalgic about their video games and electronic gadgets as we are our old bikes?
Nah!

HI
I HAD 2 SINGLE SPEEDS. MY PARENTS BOUGHT THE FIRST ONE, AND I BOUGHT THE SECOND ONE WITH PAPER ROUTE MONEY. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF RESTORING MY SEARS SINGLE SPEED.

I understand why you'd want that bike so bad! It's so awesome! Well I'm speaking from the point of view of a vintage bike enthusiast, but still, it's pretty neat. Too bad you didn't get what you wanted.

Nice bike! It's interesting to see that this specific design is coming back in bicycles today. The banana seat is a classic! My kids would love this one as much as you would have liked it

If I had been you I'd want that bike really badly too! Too bad you didn't get it though! And this story about your sister is sad yet funny. Companies are making new bikes with a vintage look, maybe you can relive your childhood!
